11 Appear in Court for South Africa Casino Robbery
11 out of the 14 men charged with casino robbery appeared briefly in the Nelspruit regional court Tuesday. The 14 men robbed Emnotweni Casino in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, South Africa December 12, 2005 where they held up staff and gamblers.
The amount taken from the casino and its patrons was not disclosed. Some patrons' mobile phones and jewelries were taken.
The eleven men present at the regional court were told that the group's trial was set to begin on Sept. 20.
The group pleaded not guilty on charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances in Nelspruit magistrate's court June 26, and their case was in turn referred to the regional court for a trial date to be scheduled.
Six of the men have paid the bail set at R4,000, and the remaining eight have yet to raise the money.
The six who have paid bail are: Clifford Malope, 33, Themba Basil Dube , 34, Solomon Fakude, 34, Peterson Madisakwane, 43, Robbie de Beer, and Eugene Morgan, 27.
The eight men who haven't paid the bail yet are Bafana Levert Ndou, 29, Thulani Ndlovu, 26, Clifford Dlamini, 25, (who has since died), Job Mathe, 46, Andrew Thobolo, 56, Benjamin Tshuma, 30, as well as Jacob Ndengezi, 27 and Admire Moyo.
